About the UT Health Science Center Digital Archive
Evaluation & Selection
The Health Science Center Digital Archive presents a set of collections that are historically unique and significant. Selection of materials to include in the archive is based on a distinct set of criteria that supports the overall purpose of the Digital Archive.
The Health Science Center Digital Archive utilizes best practices in preservation, open standards in digitization, and metadata development. It extends formats throughout the life cycle of resources to allow for accessibility and discoverability to the greatest number of individuals.
Audience & Partners
The Health Science Center Digital Archive's primary goal is to provide digitized material to students, faculty, and staff of the UT Health Science Center. Additionally, the Health Science Center Digital Archive attempts, whenever possible, to provide open access to the community at large.
The Health Science Center Digital Archive librarians and staff will work with the educational community, historical organizations, and medical community and will also collaborate with local, state, and national digital consortia. The goal of these collaborations is to increase awareness and to seek partnerships to enhance the organization, resources, and effectiveness.
All collections are searchable using Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) and have been cataloged by a UTHSC medical cataloger.
This repository was made possible in part by a grant from the SBC Foundation in June, 2004.
